Are you planning a trip to Thailand? We’d like to help you find the best beach destinations and places to stay in Thailand.
The blog is written by us, a Finnish couple, Mila and Tuomas. In “The Best of Thailand”, we describe our trips over ten years. But what attracts us to Thailand?
In Thailand, it’s easy to forget your everyday life quickly and enter another reality. It’s not hard when the heat hits you when stepping out of the plane. Tom Yam soup is so hot it makes your forehead sweat. But the beaches of fine sand and palm trees are not enough for us. We love the lush greenery, the colourful flowers, villages, sounds and scents of Thailand. And riding mopeds!
In Thailand, we’ve visited Koh Phangan, Koh Samui, Koh Lanta, Koh Lipe, Koh Ngai, Phi Phi, Koh Jum, Khao Lak, Koh Kood, Koh Chang, Koh Phayam, Koh Yao Noi, Khanom and Phuket. In our blog, we review the six best destinations. Among them, we have three firm favourites.
We love peaceful island paradises like Koh Ngai but also livelier places like Koh Lanta.
On individual trips, we’ve usually visited two or three places. We spend a part of the trip just lounging and reading under the palm trees on a paradise island. The other half is for visiting livelier places. Usually, we’ve travelled for about two weeks at a time.
In Thailand, we usually prefer to stay in bungalows on beaches with palm trees. It’s lovely to fall asleep listening to the humming of the sea and to plunge into the water straight from bed in the morning.
We spend a lot of time picking the places to stay in advance. We’re not looking for expensive luxury resorts but the best we can get for a reasonable price.
We go through the accommodation in the destination very thoroughly. We also study the surroundings like the garden, the beach, the view, and the villages. We don’t want unpleasant surprises when arriving, like a nice bungalow in dreary surroundings.
We grade the destinations based on our own experiences. We’ve visited all of these destinations at least twice. All the photos we publish were taken by us.
We offer independent reviews of the destinations. We don’t ask for or accept any rewards from the destinations we review.
Please feel free to give feedback, ask questions, and share your own tips for Thailand.
